| Western states want reins on federal power | | Thank God some states has the balls to stand up to bigger government and tell Washington D.C. to back off, what so you?
"The national government has gained more and more power,to a point where we're simply subjects of the ruling masters in Washington, D.C.," said Wimmer, who has established an organization, the Patrick Henry Caucus, to rally like-minded lawmakers from other states. "That is not the way this country and this government were set up."It is no accident the greatest defiance has surfaced in the West, a region with a history of antipathy toward outsiders and, especially, Washington."You're going to get more of it as people look at the growth of the federal government and the big bailout of financial interests," said Eric Herzik, a University of Nevada political scientist and expert on the Sagebrush Rebellion, the populist movement that swept the West a generation ago and helped put Ronald Reagan in the White House.http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/la-na-west16-2009jun16,0,2153611.story
| | menepausal women who take the reins at the local post office | | in our city there are few places a person can go to ship ebay items out on a saturday or sunday. as these are the only days i can get to the post office. i am forced to deal with the same two (ladies) each week. i cringe each time i enter the building, forseeing the imminent happenings, never a smile only the same old what do you want? ........i want to ship some ebay items what the heck do you think i want. then it's the same questions, always the same questions, surface? air? usa? international?what? you can't read the bill of ladeing? what are you doing in a post office if you can't take the time to read what i have taken so much time and effort to write out in a ledgible script even with the arthritus bothering me as much as it does. do these people not realise that they are there as servants of the public. and they get damn (scuse the word but it's the only one that works for me in this situation) paid well for it. why don't they treat their customers better. i know i do, my customers pay for my food lodgeing and transportation. in a round about way we are paying theirs. if i treated my customers as they treat me and others, i'd be living on the streets.i find it upsetting... | |
| | Why do some managers believe in holding on to the reins forever??? | | Has anyone come across a boss that solicits suggestions, considers them and just downplays, still sticking to the formulated plan even if a plan more constructive exists??? There is the dictator that walks around with "My way or the highway" stamp on his forehead....and then you have the semi-dictator who thinks "I want to do it my way but think there would be a better way out there..." Then suddenly something snaps and "My way" is what finally comes into play!!Does such an attitude stem out of insecurity or inefficiency?? | |
| | Stir up the Campbell: Jason take the reins for Redskins | | Within a few hours of his big promotion, Jason Campbell had received congratulations and advice from Donovan McNabb, Steve McNair and Charlie Frye. For that matter, it seemed everyone wanted a word with the new Washington Redskins starting quarterback.
"I had to cut my phone off," Campbell said. "It was getting crazy." Campbell arrived for work a bit calmer Tuesday, having slept on the news that he has replaced Mark Brunell and will start Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Campbell said he left his Monday meeting with coach Joe Gibbs feeling as if he were "winning the lottery," so he was happy to hear from other quarterbacks who had experienced the same. "They just told me to take the approach of `Go out there, be yourself,"' Campbell said. "'Just take every play one play at a time. If you make a mistake, keep your head up high and keep working hard, because you are going to get better from game to game."' But there are sure to be some early growing pains for a quarterback who hasn't taken a snap in a competitive game since undefeated Auburn's victory over Virginia Tech in the Sugar Bowl in January 2005. The move from 36-year-old Brunell to...
| | Put that kid on a leash! Literally? | | I was curious what others thought about the harnesses and leashes that stores sell so that you can put them on your child. I know the first time I saw one (before I had kids) I was ticked. How could someone treat their child like a dog?!? Then I had kids. I've never used one, but I could see that it gives the child a little bit of freedom while still keeping them close to their parents.Do you think they're a cop out for keeping track of your child or that they are a good idea and why? | |
| | Kids on Leashes!!!!! | | How do you feel when you see a child with a leash on. I dont personally like it although I understand the purpose of them so you dont lose your child but to me it just looks so degrating. I dont like it. Whats your opinion on it... | |
| | The Violence (like a poem thingy:P) | | Before you start reading i just want you to know that i enjoy writing about this stuff, but honestly i am not writing about my self in these writings. The gun shakes in my hand, i begin to doubt myself. do i have to guts to pull the trigger? To kill those that have done wrong to me? Can I possibly live with myself? Why do i have thoughts about killing those that hurt me the most? My hands tense, and the trigger is pulled. The sound of the gun is unbearable. The screams begin to eat away at me. My stomach lurches and my head begins to spin. I fall to my knees, crying into my hands. Tears drip down my arms. Why most I be tortured? It is them that have done the wrong to me. They deserve this; it was what was meant to happen. Laughing at me, screaming at me, even yelling at me; do they honestly believe that I can't feel emotion or pain? My soul lurches, my heart begins to beat. Rage takes over my body, I am no longer human. I am something more? Or is this the adrenaline taking over? Darkness creeps around me, like a dark blanket, chilling, and killing me. I can no longer live with the pain, I turn the gun. Once again i begin to shake. Can i honestly take my own life? The thought... | |
| | Strange dream | | I lay down for a bit of shut eye one afternoon and I dropped off, tho I didn't realize it until I woke up...I dreamed I was sitting in a car, looking at a carriage with 2 bay horses, from behind. The driver was a nice looking gal and there was a kid sitting in the carriage, but wasn't doing anything.Suddenly the horses started and started to bolt. The driver tried to grab them, then ducked between them to try and grab the reins.Suddenly, it wasn't 2 bay horses, it was a team of 8 dapple grays. She was trying to get the reins, and was grabbing the tack of the horses so she could stop them, but fell. Then I had run over when I saw the horses start and caught onto the carriage and pulled myself to the driver's seat and pulled the horses to a halt just before the driver was hurt. Now, understand, I have ridden LOTS of horses, but never driven a team of any kind. So, its not OUTSIDE the realm of possibilities that I could get a team under control.Still, it was an interesting dream and I discovered I had only slept about 15 minutes. The cats were staring at me and I had drooled on the... | |
| | "Let the pony have his head" - Celebrating Australia Day - 26th January | | "The Man from Snowy River" is possibly one of the best known Aussie poems, written by AB “Banjo” Paterson 1864-1941. I find this poem very rich in lessons for all of us. A bit of background for the poem, to whet your appetite: A colt, the offspring of a champion and worth a small fortune, had escaped and gone off with the wild horses. All the top horsemen gathered to retrieve the colt, including Clancy of the Overflow - the BEST horseman who ever held reins. Along with the other champion riders, comes a man from Snowy River, on a “weed” of a pony. He is ridiculed and told this is not a job for him, but Clancy speaks up for him and he rides.Clancy leads the chase, but the wild horses beat them to the mountains and we see all the riders gathered on the crest -“When they reached the mountain's summit, even Clancy took a pull, It well might make the boldest hold their breath” Even Clancy - the champion - pulled back on the reins. No one could make that descent! Fear overtook them all. They were ready to give up.“But the man from Snowy River LET THE PONY HAVE HIS HEAD,
And he swung his stockwhip round and gave a cheer,
And he raced him down the mountain like a...
| | I'm consistant, I posted the wrong discussion...again. Why do you own a dog? | | Well, I posted the cat discussion in dogs and the dog discussion in cats, confusion reins in my life!!! LOL.Why do you own a dog, what kind is it?I've got 3 dogs, two mini Dachshunds and a pit/lab mix. I've got them as a warning system and for companionship. The three of them can hear a bird fart a mile away! So they warn me when someone is in the yard and they also chase the deer out of my yard so they protect my various plants (including my roses!).Hopefully I'll get my brain straightened out soon...I don't usually make these kind of mistakes, but at least I see the enormous humor in making them. | |
