| My grandson's first rodeo... | | Life does indeed have it's little firsts.
My first was being the primary care giver to my grandson. I have had an apple outta the bag that women toil away with every single day. And I have only one small charge to care for. My wife shares obviously, but she has her little shop she has to open up 6 days a week too.
Today we drove four hours to visit our oldest son and were invited to rodeo when we got there.
Which rodeo? The KISPIox rodeo. They call it the biggest little rodeo in northern BC.
Hmmm. Might be. So we thought, Jason will like this. And did he ever. For about the first 10 minutes. He just had the most fun running about playing with another couple little boys who were as equally disinterested with the whole affair.[em]glare[/em]Perhaps someday it will be interesting to him. For me? It's right up there with a trip to the dentist or crucifixion for a golly gee rip roaring fun time. Mind you, I'm that way with all sports. And I am easily annoyed by traditional pagentry. I don't care about clubs, rodeo queens and princesses. I endure 50/50 tickets... Yeah I'm a poop.[em]yawn[/em]
I go to rodeos for three things.

Bucking saddle Broncs, Bucking Broncos and bull riding.
The little britches riding those dreadfully rough sheep are cute I must admit. Nothing like gearing up your 3 or 4 year old and letting a frightened sheep toss them onto the sand.[em]lol[/em]

| Taking photos at a Rodeo...have you ever been to one? | | A couple of weeks ago my hubby and I went to cover a news story for a local paper. In this case it was not a wrriting assignment..but a photography shoot. We had never been to a rodeo before and it was most enjoyable. This one was organized by the Heartland Group in Manitoba. It is a rodeo that features opportunities for young children to come in as pee-wees and stay with the rodeo as long as they want. They have events for all ages...and the sights, sounds...and yes smells created a great afternoon event. This organization is very concerned about the health and well being of all the animals and you can tell the way they prance and show off that they are healthy and strong.
Just one of the many reasons I love my job as a journalist and free lance writer...always new adventures to photograph and write about! So for anyone who has never been to one..that was my experience. Is there anyone else out there who had rodeo experience and might light to share it with others. If you have never been to a rodeo...would you like to attend...and why.
| | The Rodeo Scene | | For those of you who have seen Borat, what did you think of the rodeo scene? I got a particularly big kick out of it because it was filmed minutes away from where I live and I didn't hear anything about it until a couple months ago. It's funny to see the hillbillies in my area portrayed on a movie to be just that. http://www.roanoke.com/news/roanoke/wb/76827 else out there who had rodeo experience and might light to share it with others. If you have never been to a rodeo...would you like to attend...and why. | |

| Rodeo - Heeha! | | Does anybody here enter into rodeo competitions. They do not allow it here in my country. The animal anti cruelty is against it. The only time i get close to a rodeo is when I back my own horses. | |
| | Sidney Iowa and rodeo | | I am from Sidney Iowa. It is most famous for the Sidney Iowa Rodeo in August. It's a lot of fun to work there and meet people from all over. If any of you reading this like rodeo and might want to see ours, write and say hi. Maybe I will meet you there. else out there who had rodeo experience and might light to share it with others. If you have never been to a rodeo...would you like to attend...and why. | |

| RODEO'S A True Test of Necessay Skills or Just Plain Cruelty? | | Have you ever been to a Rodeo? How do you think these cowboys learned to Rodeo? Did they have to learn these skills because it was a necessary part of ranch life.
Also keep in mind when you answer that all of the cattle and horses involved are worth big dollars and are trained tested and bred to perform.
